The Smeltery
Build a multiblock smeltery to bulk-smelt a haul of ore far faster than a row of single furnaces.
A single furnace smelts one item at a time, slowly. When you come home from a deep mining trip with stacks of raw iron, raw copper, and raw gold, that becomes a long wait in front of a furnace wall. The Smeltery is the answer: a built structure that takes a bulk load and processes it together, far faster than the same fuel spread across separate furnaces.
What it is
The Smeltery is a multiblock you construct in the world, not a single block you place. You lay out its parts in the right shape, and the finished structure works as one machine. Once it is standing, you feed it ore and fuel and it smelts the batch in bulk while you get on with something else.
Think of it as the heavy-industry upgrade to your furnace corner. A row of furnaces suits a few stacks. The Smeltery earns its keep when you are melting down a full inventory of raw ore in one sitting.
Using it
- Build the Smeltery structure.— gather the blocks it calls for and assemble them in the pattern
- Load your ore and your fuel into it.— coal, charcoal, or whatever you smelt with
- Let it run — it works through the whole batch rather than one item at a time.
- Collect your ingots when the load finishes.— ready to sort or bank
When to build one
- You mine in bulk and dread the smelting queue afterward.
- You want one central processing point instead of a scattered furnace wall.
- You are feeding a storage system and want ingots ready to sort fast.
Pair the Smeltery with a Caravan: let the llamas haul the raw ore home, then dump the whole load into the Smeltery in one go.
