Invisible armor

Make any armor piece invisible when worn. It keeps its protection, enchantments and durability, and a milk bucket turns it back.

Like your skin more than your armor? Make any armor piece invisible when you wear it. It keeps everything that matters: protection, toughness, enchantments, durability, trims and its name. Only the look goes away.

Make a piece invisible

At a crafting table, or in the small crafting grid of your inventory, put in:

  • the armor piece,
  • its material, the item you would repair it with,
  • a Potion of Invisibility, the drinkable kind, normal or long.

Or use an Anvil anvil: the piece on the left, the Potion of Invisibility on the right. It costs 3 levels and no material.

The piece's tooltip then says Invisible when worn. On Bedrock, if the crafting grid shows no result, use the anvil.

Make it visible again

Put the piece in with a milk bucket. At a crafting table you get the empty bucket back. In an anvil it costs 3 levels and the bucket is used up.

What other players see

  • Java players see your skin where the piece would be, and so do you in third person.
  • Bedrock players see your skin too.
  • On Bedrock, you still see your own armor when you look at yourself. Everyone else sees your skin.
  • Drink a Potion of Invisibility while wearing it and the armor shows again until the effect ends, the same way armor always shows on invisible players.

Good to know

  • Trims don't show while the piece is invisible. They come back when you make it visible again.
  • Enchanting, renaming, repairing in an anvil and upgrading to netherite all keep a piece invisible.
  • Repairing two pieces together in a crafting grid makes a plain, visible piece.
