Enchant Mastery
Every enchantment on your gear levels up as you use it, growing past its vanilla ceiling toward a per-enchant cap and a five-star badge.
Enchant Mastery is why a well-worn tool beats a freshly enchanted one. Every enchantment you carry levels up through use and grows past its vanilla ceiling toward a per-enchant cap. Mine with Efficiency and Efficiency climbs. Take hits in Protection armor and Protection climbs. There is nothing to switch on and no command to run — carry the gear, do the work, and watch it grow.
This is progress per item, not a player rank. A maxed pickaxe says nothing about your sword. Each piece of gear climbs on its own, so the tools you actually use become the ones worth keeping.
How to read your gear
Two things change on an item as its enchants level:
- A star badge appears in the item's name, showing the highest mastery tier it has reached.
- A progress bar appears in the item's lore, filling toward the next level.
Glance at either and you know exactly where a tool stands.
The five tiers
Each enchantment climbs through five tiers on its way to its cap. The tier is set by how far the enchant has progressed toward its own maximum level.
| Tier | Badge | Reached at |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | ★ | Any progress |
| Adept | ★★ | 40% of max |
| Expert | ★★★ | 60% of max |
| Master | ★★★★ | 80% of max |
| Grandmaster | ★★★★★ | Maxed |
Every level-up along the way is quiet — just the badge and the bar ticking upward. Only reaching an enchant's maximum level celebrates.
Max out an enchant and the whole server hears about it — an on-screen title, a sound, and a broadcast in chat. Grandmaster is a public milestone, not a private one.
Enchants that cannot level
Some enchantments have no second level in vanilla, so they cannot climb: Silk Touch, Mending, Flame, Infinity, Multishot, Channeling, and Aqua Affinity. These earn a "Mastered ✔" mark instead, once you have used them enough.
How fast they grow
Different enchants climb at different speeds and cap at different heights:
- Combat and mining enchants — Efficiency, Sharpness, Unbreaking and their kin climb steadily to the highest caps, well past their vanilla ceiling.
- Defensive enchants — the Protection family sits a notch lower, capping a little sooner than the offensive lines.
- The money enchants — Fortune, Looting, and Luck of the Sea are the long haul. They cap early but grind slowly, so a Grandmaster Fortune pick is a genuine trophy.
XP comes only from the matching activity — mining feeds mining enchants, taking hits feeds armor, item wear feeds Unbreaking and Mending. Anti-grind caps keep AFK loops from cheating the climb. There is no shortcut. You earn each level by doing the thing.
Mastery lives on the item, earned by real use — not a character sheet you level once and forget. That keeps a skilled newcomer competitive: the edge is gear you have actually worn in, not the hours on your account.
