Combat
Armored elytra
Combine an elytra and a chestplate in an anvil to get a real elytra that keeps the chestplate's armor and enchantments.
You no longer have to choose between wings and armor. Combine an elytra with a chestplate in an anvil, and you get an elytra that still flies like one and carries the chestplate's armor.
Make one
- Put the elytra and the chestplate in the anvil's two input slots.
- Take the result. It costs 1 level of experience, and the chestplate is used up.
The new elytra is named after its chestplate, such as Diamond Elytra or Netherite Elytra, and its tooltip lists the armor it carries.
What carries over
| Chestplate | Armor | Toughness | Also |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leather | 3 | — | — |
| Chainmail | 5 | — | — |
| Iron | 6 | — | — |
| Golden | 5 | — | — |
| Diamond | 8 | 2 | — |
| Netherite | 8 | 3 | 10% knockback resistance; fireproof, like other netherite gear |
The elytra keeps its own enchantments, and the chestplate's enchantments move over too, except curses.
Limits
- It wears down like an elytra. The chestplate's durability does not carry over.
- You can't split it back into an elytra and a chestplate.
- An armored elytra can't take a second chestplate.
