Routes & Filters
The 30-second bind window, what each job wants tapped, the 48-block rule, fixing lost routes, and the seven-slot filter editor — with the one sneaky trap to avoid.
Give a golem a Work Order and it needs to know where to work. That's the route: the containers you tap right after assignment. Couriers and Restockers can additionally carry a filter — a short list of what they may (or may not) touch. Both live on this page.
The bind window
The moment a Work Order is handed over, a 30-second bind window opens. The golem narrates each step in the action bar in its own voice — it will tell you what it's waiting for, so you're never guessing. Tap (right-click) the containers in order and the route locks in.
What each job wants tapped:
| Job | Taps, in order |
|---|---|
| Courier | pickup, then drop-off |
| Stoker | pickup, then a furnace / blast furnace / smoker |
| Restocker | supply, then the shelf to keep stocked |
| Janitor | just the bank chest — one tap |
| Sorter | source, then each destination, then the golem itself with an empty hand to finish |
| Farmhand | nothing — it binds no containers |
The rules of a route
- Every container must be within 48 blocks of the golem and in the same world.
- Chests, barrels, furnaces, brewing stands, and hoppers all count as containers.
- Golems walk their routes — a valid bind still needs a walkable path, or you'll meet the stuck - can't reach status.
Lost routes
Break a bound container and the golem forgets that stop. Its readout switches to needs a route and it waits, patient as copper. To fix it, hand the golem a matching Work Order — one for its same job — and the bind window reopens so you can tap replacements.
The filter editor
Couriers and Restockers only. A filter narrows what the golem will carry.
- Hold a Work Order of the golem's SAME job — a Courier order for a Courier, a Restocker order for a Restocker.
- Sneak + right-click the golem.— the 9-slot editor opens: 7 filter slots, a whitelist/blacklist toggle, and Done
- Click items in your own inventory to add their types.— ghost copies — nothing is taken from you; up to 7 types
- Click a filter slot to remove a type. Close the editor to save.
- Whitelist — the golem carries only the listed types.
- Blacklist — the golem carries everything except the listed types.
- Empty filter — everything goes.
The no-sneak trap: clicking a working golem with a Work Order without sneaking doesn't open the editor — it re-assigns the job and clears the route. Sneak first, every time. If you slip, the bind window is open anyway: tap the containers again and no harm done.
