Sorter
A copper golem that files one source's items into several destination chests by what each chest already holds. Seed the chests, tap them in turn, done.
A Sorter files a messy chest into tidy ones. Give one a Sorter Work Order, point it at a source and a handful of destination chests, and it reads what each destination already holds and carries matching items there. Iron to the iron chest, redstone to the redstone chest, and so on — no hoppers, no signs.
The recipe
How to use it
The Sorter binds to more than one chest, so its setup has an extra beat: you seed each destination with a sample of what belongs there first, then walk the golem through them.
- Seed each destination chest with at least one of the item it should receive.— one item teaches it — that's how the golem learns what goes where
- Craft the Sorter Work Order and right-click a copper golem holding it.— copper frame + paper + comparator; a ✦ Sorter nameplate appears
- Tap the source chest — the mixed pile to be sorted.— a 30-second bind window; every stop within 48 blocks
- Tap each seeded destination chest in turn.
- Tap the golem with an empty hand to finish and lock in the route.
The Sorter's one rule: it only lifts an item when some destination already holds that type. From then on it pulls from the source, 16 at a time, and files each item into whichever chest claims it. Anything with no home — a homeless item — stays put in the source, never lost, never guessed at.
Tips
- Seed thoroughly — a destination only catches item types it already holds. Drop one of each variety you want filed there.
- One catch-all — seed a final chest with whatever overflow you want it to swallow, or leave unmatched items to sit in the source.
- Use a plain chest or barrel as the source — not a copper chest.
- Feeding the Sorter from far away? Run a Courier into its source chest.
Good to know
- The Sorter files items only while a player is within 64 blocks of the golem or its containers — it tidies while you're around, it doesn't sort offline.
- Items are never duplicated or voided — a full destination means the golem holds the cargo and retries.
- Oxidation never slows it — full speed until it fully oxidises and freezes. A frozen one glows; wax with honeycomb. See Golem Care.
- The Work Order is consumed on assignment.

Janitor
A copper golem that sweeps up dropped items within 8 blocks and banks them in a chest — keeps your base tidy and your loot off the floor.
Farmhand
A copper golem that harvests and replants wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, and nether wart within 8 blocks. No binding — just stand it in the field and the produce drops for a Janitor or hopper to gather.
