Chat & nicknames

How chat works on Sunday Market — messages, hover cards, system lines, clickable links, and custom nicknames.

Chat on Sunday Market is the social glue. Here's how it works today.

Chat today

  • Player messages — your name and your text
  • Hover a name in chat for a quick player card with more about them
  • System messages — economy payouts, brewing results, deaths
  • Links you paste are clickable, and you can drop the item you're holding straight into chat for others to hover and inspect
  • Add color and a little formatting to your own lines with message tags
  • Long messages wrap automatically

A chat exchange looks like this in-game:

Nicknames

Custom display names are live. Set one with /nick <name>, and switch back to your username any time with /nick off. Curious who's behind a nickname? /realname <nick> reveals the real account, and the hover card keeps everyone honest — your true username is always one glance away.

Staff-sounding names are off-limits — impersonating staff is against the rules (see Conduct). And a nickname is purely cosmetic: it doesn't come with a rank, a tier, or any extra power. There's one player group here and everyone belongs to it, so the name floating above your head is the only thing that changes.
