Proximity voice
Java players can opt into nearby voice chat with a matching client mod. Bedrock players and unmodded Java players can still join and use text chat.
Nearby voice chat is available for Java players who choose to install its client mod. You can join Sunday Market without it and keep using text chat. Bedrock Edition cannot use this voice feature, but Bedrock players can still join the same world and chat by text.
Set it up on Java
- Install the Java voice client for your Minecraft version and mod loader. Choose client release 2.6.24 to match the server's installed release.
- Launch Minecraft with that mod enabled and join Sunday Market as usual. Press V to open the first-use voice guide.
- Choose your microphone, speakers and activation mode. If you choose push to talk, set its key in that guide. Use Enable microphone testing in voice settings to check your input before speaking to someone nearby.
The client download must match your Java game version and mod loader. Normal voice reaches up to 48 blocks here. If you can join the server but voice will not connect, follow the voice connection checks. Voice uses a separate connection on UDP port 24454, which a network can block even when the game connection works.
Playing across editions
Voice stays optional for Java players and unavailable on Bedrock. Use text chat when speaking with someone on Bedrock or an unmodded Java client. The rest of the crossplay world remains shared.
