Janitor
A copper golem that sweeps up dropped items within 8 blocks and banks them in a chest — keeps your base tidy and your loot off the floor.
A Janitor keeps the floor clean. Hand one a Janitor Work Order and a chest, and it patrols an 8-block radius picking up dropped items and banking them — great by a mob farm, a tree-chopping spot, or anywhere stray items pile up before they despawn.
The recipe
How to use it
- Craft the Janitor Work Order.— copper frame + paper + brush
- Right-click a copper golem holding the Work Order.— the slip is consumed; a ✦ Janitor nameplate appears
- Tap the chest where it should bank what it sweeps up.— one tap and the route is done — the bank chest is its only stop
The Janitor doesn't need a pickup container — its pickup is the ground. It's the only job that watches the floor: working golems have their item pickup switched off, so a Courier will stroll right past dropped cobble, but a Janitor pounces on it. Place it in the middle of wherever drops collect and give it a chest within 48 blocks to fill.
If the bank chest fills up, the Janitor holds what it swept and waits — its readout shows drop-off full until you make room. Nothing is ever voided.
Pairs well with a Farmhand
The Farmhand harvests crops and lets the produce drop on the ground rather than banking it directly. Stand a Janitor in the same field and it sweeps the harvest into a chest — the two make a tidy little farm crew together.
Good to know
- The Janitor sweeps only while a player is within 64 blocks — it keeps the floor clear while you're around, not a vacuum that runs offline.
- It works an 8-block radius around itself — place it where the drops land.
- Oxidation never slows it — full speed until it fully oxidises and freezes. A frozen one glows; wax with honeycomb. See Golem Care.
- The Work Order is consumed on assignment.
