Landmarks & structures
An atlas of what to find and loot across the world: taverns, grand temples, monuments, strongholds, and ruins.
The world is packed with places worth the trip. Some are cozy waypoints, some are dungeons that will test your gear, and all of them hold loot you cannot craft at home. This is a field atlas of what to keep an eye out for as you travel.
Waypoints and small finds
- Roadside taverns and wayside dungeons. Scattered across the land, taverns make handy stops, and the small dungeons tucked nearby reward a quick dig.
- Watchtowers. Tall themed towers rise as landmarks you can spot from a distance. Climb them for a view and light loot.
- Scenic and overgrown ruins. Atmospheric little builds and mossy, half-swallowed structures dot the landscape. Most hold a modest reward and always a good screenshot.
- Wayside finds and trailside structures. A deep library of small builds spices up ordinary travel, so no two routes look the same.
- Revamped villages. Villages are larger and more detailed than vanilla, and some now generate out on and under the ocean.
Grand structures to raid
These are the big targets. Bring gear, food, and a way home.
| Landmark | Where | Why go |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Desert Temple | Deserts | Expanded multi-room pyramids with far more to loot |
| Grand Jungle Temple | Jungles | Larger puzzle and loot complexes |
| Grand Ocean Monument | Deep oceans | Sprawling underwater complexes |
| Grand Woodland Mansion | Dark forests | New rooms, hidden secrets, and enchanted loot |
| Grand Stronghold | Underground | Huge sprawling complexes on the way to the End |
| Deep Dark City | Deep dark | A far larger Ancient City with new loot rooms |
| Fortified Outpost | Overworld surface | Bigger pillager camps with more to take |
| Witch's Swamp Hut | Swamps | Proper multi-room witch lairs |
The grand structures are more dangerous than their vanilla versions. Deep Dark Cities in particular are silent for a reason. Step lightly.
Underground and undersea
- Deep mineshafts. Mineshafts run bigger and more varied, and they are worth exploring for their own sake now.
- Ruined portals. These look dramatic and built-up, and they remain a reliable source of gold and the odd rare drop.
- Sunken ruins. Richer ocean ruins reward a dive with a lantern and a breath of air.
The Nether
Portals lead to grand nether fortresses, rebuilt larger with more layout variety and more to loot. The wider Nether has its own overhaul and its own new gear, so treat a fortress run as a real expedition.
