Auction House

List an item with /ah sell and buy from a menu any time. Five listings each, prices from 1 to 100,000 coins, no fees, listings last 6 hours to a week.

The Auction House is one shared board for the whole server. Hold an item, name a price, and every player can buy it from a menu, from anywhere, whether you're online or not. Type /ah to browse it.

A listing costs nothing to post and nothing when it sells. The buyer pays your price and those coins go to you. The server takes no cut.

Browsing

/ah (or /auction) opens the Auction House menu. Each listing shows its price, the seller and how long it has left. The bottom row holds the controls:

ButtonWhat it does
Sell the item in your handOpens the sell screen for whatever you're holding
SortChanges the order: recently listed, latest, highest price or lowest price
FilterShows one kind of item: blocks, tools, food, combat, potions, books, ingredients or utilities
SearchCloses the menu; type an item name in chat and it reopens showing only matches

Buying

  1. /ahOpen the Auction House and find the item.
  2. Click the listing.— the Confirm Purchase screen shows the price and your coins
  3. Click Buy it.— the coins leave your balance and the item lands in your inventory

Make room first. If your inventory is full when you buy, the item drops on the ground at your feet, and chat doesn't warn you. Pick it up before someone else does.

A purchase doesn't go through, and costs you nothing, when you don't have enough coins, someone else is buying the same listing at that moment, or the listing has just ended. You can't buy your own listings.

A listed shulker box says how many items it holds. On Java, right-click the listing to look inside before you buy.

Selling

  1. Hold the item you want to sell in your main hand.— the whole stack in your hand is listed, so split it first to sell part of it
  2. /ah sell <price>Open the sell screen at that price.— the item leaves your inventory while the screen is open
  3. Adjust the price with Lower the price and Raise the price, and pick how long it stays up.
  4. Click List it.— chat confirms the listing and Your listings opens

For example, holding a stack of iron:

/ah sell 100

opens the sell screen at 100 coins. Prices can have decimals, like /ah sell 2.50.

  • Price: anything from 1 to 100,000 coins. A price outside that range snaps to the nearest end on the sell screen, so check it before you click List it. Each price button moves it by the step shown on the button.
  • How long: 2 days unless you pick another. The choices are 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days and 1 week.
  • Changed your mind? Click Cancel or close the screen, and the item comes back.
  • The row of item kinds on the sell screen doesn't change your listing. Buyers' Filter sorts every item by what it is.

The Sell the item in your hand button in the menu opens the same screen, starting at 1 coin.

Chat confirms each listing and purchase with the item's name in capitals, like Listed DIAMOND · 100.00 $. The $ is just how prices print in-game. It's the same coins as your /balance.

When it sells

Nothing tells you in chat. The coins go into your balance the moment someone buys, whether you're online or not. To see what's sold, open Your listings (or type /ah cancel), or check /balance.

Each entry in Your listings shows its status and what a click does:

StatusClick it to
For saleCancel the listing and get the item back straight away
SoldClear it from the list. The coins already reached you when it sold
EndedTake the item back. Nobody bought it before its time ran out
CancelledNothing left to do

An item whose time ran out waits in Your listings until you take it back. Leave room in your inventory when you do.

Limits and cost

WhatHow much
Items for sale at once5 per player. Sold, ended and cancelled listings don't count. /ah limit shows how many you have left
Price1 to 100,000 coins
How long a listing stays up2 days by default, or 6 hours to 1 week
Fee to listNone
Cut taken from a saleNone

Five listings keeps the board fresh for everyone. To sell in bulk or keep restocking the same thing, open a market stall instead.

On Java and Bedrock

The Auction House is a chest menu, and Bedrock shows it like any chest. Search and the sell command use chat, which works the same on both.

If a button does nothing for you on Bedrock, tell staff with /helpop and say which one.

Auction house, stall or trade?

  • Auction House: list a few things once and every player can find them, from anywhere, while you're away.
  • Market stalls: a chest that keeps selling, or buying, the same item in bulk at a spot people visit.
  • Trade window: a deal with one player, items for items or coins, that you both confirm.
